How does your ability to execute on your strategy measure up to your expectations? If you are like many executives or business leaders you are likely less than satisfied. Despite the best of intentions and effort virtually all strategies can fail simply as a result of a few strategy pitfalls that loom. These pitfalls are counter intuitive to what you may believe however can be easily avoided if a few simple steps are first taken.

I’m not going to suggest that your actions be SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound), or that first need to engage employees before you formulate your strategy, although these are keys to a successful strategy in and of themselves. Grab a paper and pen and reflect upon how these pitfalls may exist in your business today, and how you might overcome them.

Question: How are you positioning your strategy and team to avoid these pitfalls? What changes are you going to make today to ensure the successful achievement of your vision?
